The purpose of this blog...

Well, after reading a lot of people's blogs over the past few days, I decided that perhaps one of the best ways to raise support for IHOP might be to start a blog. Not to mention, it's a great way for those who do donate to be able to see what the Lord is doing... I guess that first of all I'd like to post my support letter.

Dear Precious Friends,
I do plan to send a formal letter, but let's be honest, the web works well :)

Over the past six months I have been serving with Bethel Church’s house of prayer known as the Watch of the Lord. I lead worship and intercession several times per week. During this time I have been stretched and have grown tremendously in leadership, worship, and intercession. It has been a season of learning to serve and to persevere in the place of prayer. I have seen the pieces of my life and calling fall into place in amazing ways! I am very excited to begin the next part of my journey. But before I tell you about that, I want to try to give you a taste of my passion so that you can understand the excitement I feel.

It is my dream to build an organization that will serve victims of human trafficking. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is modern-day slavery and is usually related to sex tourism. Sex trafficking and forced prostitution are far more widespread than we would like to believe. The statistics are staggering. Human trafficking, at 42 billion dollars a year, is now the second largest illegal money-maker in the world—second only to illegal drugs. It is my dream to rescue and care for these victims—God’s precious children who He loves so much.

I have felt passionately about this issue since I was 17, but it is only through this season in the house of prayer that I have gained true knowledge of the justice of God and true passion for His heart toward the victims of injustice. He has ignited a new passion in my heart and I now feel the call to pursue both intercession and justice in one place. That place is the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO. The vision of IHOP is primarily to create a 24/7 prayer movement. IHOP is actually starting two different ministries to care for orphans and victims of human trafficking. I plan to complete an internship that will prepare and enable me to join the staff of IHOP-KC and to become a part of the Orphan Justice Center.

The internship has a tuition cost and I am writing to ask for your support during this season. My plan is to move to Kansas City in March 2010, as the internship begins March 31st. I need to raise around $5,000 to cover the cost of the program as well as living expenses for three-six months. Please partner with me in this. If you cannot give financially, I ask that you give in your prayer closet. Seek the face of God concerning the issues of human trafficking and social injustice. Let Him speak to Your heart.

I love you all very much and appreciate so much your willingness to partner with me in such an amazing season!
Living for One Thing,
Kelley
