Fairest Among Ten Thousand

What is Your beloved more than another? you asked me.

I did not have an answer to that question until this very moment.

Today I can say,

My Beloved is radiant and ruddy,
Fairest among ten thousand.

He is glorious and passionately pursuing me. and He is a BANNER above the others.

I was sitting in a meeting with a wonderful group of people and Bill was talking about this passage just briefly.... about coming to the place of Song of Solomon 5:10... the way he described it suddenly made so much sense... he said that what this verse actually means is that Jesus is a banner over ten thousand.... that it means that you get so captivated by him that others (other things, other interests) fail by comparison.... and I had a revelation..

that's what's happening to me. I'm losing my appetite for alot of other legitimately good things.

He is a banner over ten thousand... I look and see the others.... but He is so far above and shines so brightly that the world grows dim... things that used to interest me.... now fall to the wayside... (this is what that post yesterday was all about!!)

And wow...I am so moved by this revelation. Because now, for the first time, I am being awakened to love. And it has come so sweetly... in the midst of my darkness, my barrenness, my brokenness...

I know now that I am dark but lovely. That His power is made perfect in my weakness. That I can do nothing with out Him. That I need Him to save me, to intercede for me, to uphold me by the Word of His power.

And this is not a revelation born of shame.... but of love.... sweet compassionate love... ultimate security found only in the depths of infinite mercy....

I feel like a newborn... on shaky legs.... like I really don't know anything at all...... Oh but this is the best place I have ever found myself. SO MUCH JOY in you Jesus!!

Wow.... thank you Jesus. You are faithful and just. You are fairer than ten thousand others.
Let me love You more. Keep stripping me down to the first things.

My lover is radiant and ruddy,
outstanding among ten thousand.
