One Nation under God...

It's true that our nation's pledge of allegiance includes the phrase, "one nation under God...". That is, in reality, a very true statement regardless of whether the United States defines itself as a Christian nation or not. We are under God. All of the nations are His. He puts rulers in place and takes them down. Scriptural evidence to this end is undeniable.

Daniel 2
1 He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.

Daniel also told the king in Daniel 2

37 You, O king, are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory; 38 in your hands he has placed mankind and the beasts of the field and the birds of the air. Wherever they live, he has made you ruler over them all. You are that head of gold.

In the Psalms we also get to hear a conversation between the Father and the Son. The nations are the inheritance of Christ.

8 Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.

9 You will rule them with an iron scepter;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery."

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.

11 Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

So the phrase "one nation under God..." is definitely an accurate statement. The question is, will our nation be a nation under God's blessing, or will we be a nation under the wrath and judgement of God?

This is the premise for my post today. At the Call yesterday, thousands of beleivers cried out for the mercy of God on our nation, in humility submitting our sins as a people to the Lord, taking them to the cross- the only hope for our nation.

But the battle is not over. This is not a one-time, be-all-end-all solution, nor is it somethng to get psyched over and leave as a memory of a good time where we got pumped up about prayer.

This is our mandate and our Call. Daily. You can look throughout history and see what happens to a people who engage in the things our nation's laws encourage- namely sexual immorality and pride. It's not pretty.

The laws of our country are dangerously close to even preventing the truth from being spoken. Our president is encouraging Israel to give up her land (=destruction in every case in Scripture). This is not just something to keep in the back of our minds- this is REALITY. If we do not continually ask the Lord for mercy, I feel strongly our nation will see its demise.

My prayer today is that I would bless the leadership of my country, and intercede, stand in the gap on behalf of a people that is moving quickly toward, not only direct opposition to God (we are already there) but to a place of judgement.

We are not a people without hope. Praise Jesus, we can boldly approach the throne of grace. Praise Him that we have Living Hope in Jesus. But God, root our hearts in the truth of Your Word. Truth. Don't let us be deceived by the spirit of relativity of this age. Raise up people who will fast and pray for one nation under God's blessing. Give us love and humility to receive Your truth and see revival happen again in America.

1 Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

1 Timothy 2
1I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time.
